Kansas is a great place to learn how to weld.

Thanks to many quality welding schools offering welding programs, certifications and good teacher to student ratios.

But even if a school or a college has an excellent welding program it is still up to you to make sure that you know what you want. Do you want more of an engineer’s theoretical knowledge or do you want to produce beads yourself, do pipe welding, work on infrastructure, do industrial and manufacturing jobs.

Certified welders are in high demand but there are different levels to these jobs. Being capable of high-precision gas tungsten arc welding requires more work than learning gas metal arc welding. On another hand, if you want to be a certified welding inspector you will need more theoretical knowledge.

The theory is equally important to hands-on work but you should pick a school whose ratio of these two align with what you want to do. Maybe you don’t want to learn much theory at all and would much rather spend your school days under the hood.

If that’s the case then pick a school that prioritizes hands-on welding technology education.

We will get to the list of schools in a second.

Average Yearly Salaries For Welders in Kansas

Qualified welders are in short supply while the demand is high as ever. The US is expecting to experience a shortage of skilled welders which means better job opportunities for those who have welding knowledge and certificates.

Conclusion

You should search welding training that has a program suitable to your expectations for a welding career. Different programs have different classes and offer a different type of a certificate. If you are unsure of what courses to take because you don’t know which skills you need for your career you should then try to learn as many welding processes that you can and learn to work with different welding equipment.

Welder career is a very broad field. One job may take you to fabrication while another may have you welding structural or pipe. However, in order to be able to weld broadly, you need a lot of skills and education. That is why it is wise to know in advance what kind of welder program is best for you as this will dictate the beginning part of your welder career.
